Outdoor family photoshoot in London: locations, timing and what to wear
Thinking about an outdoor family photoshoot in London? Here is how to choose a location, when to go, and what to expect on the day.
How do I choose a location for an outdoor family photoshoot in London?
Pick somewhere easy to reach with space for children to move. Parks and green spaces work well because the light is soft and kids can run around. Near my Stratford studio, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a popular choice for families in East London. Outdoor sessions are available anywhere in London, so you can also choose a park or street close to home.
What is the best time of day?
Early morning and the hour before sunset give the softest, most flattering light. In autumn and winter the light is lower for more of the day, which is lovely for warm, cosy photos. We choose the time together when you book.
What should we wear?
Choose soft, coordinated colours rather than matching outfits, and dress for the weather so everyone stays comfortable. Layers, scarves and coats look great in photos.
What if it rains?
We can talk about moving the date or using my studio in Stratford, next to Westfield, so you never have to worry about the weather.
How much does an outdoor family photoshoot cost?
Outdoor family sessions start from £250. Extra images are £20 each, and a 15 to 20 second social media video is £40. Your edited gallery is ready within five working days, and babies from two months are welcome.
